The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his own esteem. Deceitful scales are in his hand And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.
Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge, One of those who is surety for debts; Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; In you they take bribes to shed blood; They have devoured people; In her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get dishonest gain. You take usury and increase; you have made profit from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me,” says the Lord God.
They have taken treasure and precious things; They have made many widows in her midst, He loves to oppress and follows after rewards, Everyone loves bribes, And he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
Shall I count pure those with the wicked scales, And with the bag of deceitful weights?
They do not defend the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow come before them and there you shall be offered for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.
“Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. Behold, I will raise them Out of the place to which you have sold them, and will return your retaliation upon your own head.
Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you?
I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken:” I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me; “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, Therefore you shall bear the penalty Of your lewdness and your harlotry.
‘And you, son of man—will it not be in the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that on which they set their minds.
Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death.” In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
O Death, I will be your plagues! O Grave, I will be your destruction! Pity is hidden from My eyes.
Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? Show Me the tax money. “And He said to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, you were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Selah!
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.
The rich and the poor have this in common, The Lord is the maker of them all.
