Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, Measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep, When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth, Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; and I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him,
Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. and God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. and God saw that it was good. and he made the Sea of cast bronze, ten cubits from one brim to the other; it was completely round. It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them.
‘Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it. This great and wide sea, In which are innumerable teeming things, Living things both small and great. There the ships sail about; There is that Leviathan Which You have made to play there. She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar.
‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created.” You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you. “By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, and you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones. “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.
“You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; and you say, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas, ‘Yet you are a man, and not a god, and you are like a monster in the seas, raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
Though you set your heart as the heart of a god The LORD will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; You shall be brought down, You shall speak out of the ground; Your speech shall be low, out of the dust; Your voice shall be like a medium’s, out of the ground; and your speech shall whisper out of the dust and dust shall be the serpent’s food.
Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you, The most terrible of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and defile your splendor. They shall throw you down into the Pit, and you shall die the death of the slain In the midst of the seas.
“Will you still say before him who slays you, ‘I am a god‘? In the hand of him who slays you?
The songs of the temple Shall be wailing in that day, “Says the Lord GOD—“Many dead bodies everywhere, They shall be thrown out in silence.” ‘Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god, You shall die the death of the uncircumcised By the hand of aliens; For I have spoken,” says the Lord GOD.’” All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, and shall be no more forever.”
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. “The kingdom of God does not come with observation, nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
“Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above.”
O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You shall be ashamed. “Those who depart from Me Shall be written in the earth, Because they have forsaken the LORD, The fountain of living waters.”
I will say to God my Rock,
“Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his Finger, as though He did not hear.
And Jesus answered and said “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water. Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind; I cast them out like dirt in the streets. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water).
The woman said to Him, “Sir, Where then do You get that living water?
He waters the hills from His upper chambers; I will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. He sends the springs into the valleys; They flow among the hills.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water. “Because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen.
And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes for He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the small dust on the scales; and he said: “I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, and He answered me. “Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and You heard my voice. For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas.
For who makes you differ from another? and what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
The LORD will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed. Because they have forsaken the LORD, The fountain of living waters and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust, come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past.’
...The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. and they were judged, each one according to his works. The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’
Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like this great city?’
“They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate;
And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. Now, I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
There are three things which are too wonderful for me, Yes, four which I do not understand:
The way of an eagle in the air, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the midst of the sea, And the way of a man with a virgin.
Selah
Truly I am as your spokesman before God; I also have been formed out of clay.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.
