“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.
If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge?”
Do all things without complaining and disputing, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; also do not take to heart everything people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you. You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord. Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; the one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure. A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will not escape.
Judgments are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge-- for the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live. He shall take away her wealth, carry off her spoil, and remove her pillage; and that will be the wages for his army.
As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Wickedness proceeds from the wicked.’
But my hand shall not be against you. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
For He knows deceitful men; He sees wickedness also.
Will He not then consider it?
And why not say, “Let us do evil that good may come”?
For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?
(You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son).
Therefore I have not sinned against you, but you wronged me by fighting against me. By swearing and lying, Killing and stealing and committing adultery, (They break all restraint).
May the Lord, the Judge, render judgment this day between the children of Israel and the people of Ammon.’”
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.
Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
Who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
But to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;
Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’
This we will do to them: We will let them live, lest wrath be upon us because of the oath which we swore to them.”
“Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; Total darkness is reserved for his treasures. An unfanned fire will consume him; it shall go ill with him who is left in his tent, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Before I go to the place from which I shall not return, to the land of darkness and the shadow of death, when it is hot, they vanish from their place.
...He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, and cast him into outer darkness; for where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. Yet, better than both is he who has never existed, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
Does it seem good to You that You should oppress, That You should despise the work of Your hands, And smile on the counsel of the wicked? Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves with the chastisement of a cruel one.
Who can stand before His cold or darkness so that you cannot see?
By the breath of God ice is given, He casts out His hail like morsels; He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, and cast him into outer darkness;Which is dark because of the ice and the surface of the deep is frozen,the paths of their way turn aside, They go nowhere and perish.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace....,
Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth.
My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places, Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. “With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;
But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.
When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.
‘For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face. For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart! If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
Therefore, bear fruits worthy of repentance, I have said to you, “You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the peoples.
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
Selah!
Although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you
