Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!
The great day of the Lord is near; it is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; there the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, A day of devastation and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities And against the high towers.
“Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”
For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them,
And the Lord said to her:“ Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.
(“Your right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed the enemy in pieces).
But truly, there is but a step between me and death.
Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For their deceit is falsehood For false witnesses have risen against me,. And such as breathe out violence. Behold; yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.
Her uncleanness is in her skirts; She did not consider her destiny; Therefore her collapse was awesome; She had no comforter.
And you mourn at last, when your flesh and your body are consumed,
(“My lord, listen to me; What is that between you and me?)
‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. It is drawn, and comes out of the body; and they separated from each other.
I will bring the one–third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. “But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire and like launderers’ soap.
Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?”
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction for this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.
Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, For the seed shall be prosperous, The vine shall give its fruit,
“I have loved you,” says the Lord. “Yet you say, ‘In what way have You loved us?’
Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;
My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And You cover my iniquity.
Selah!
My Lord thou has spoken aforetime through the mouth of our brother Paul:
Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.
Luke 12:58 When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, make every effort along the way to settle with him, lest he drag you to the judge, the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.
